Cherry Creek is a neighborhood of Denver, so City and County of Denver rules apply. The City’s statistical neighborhood runs from 6th Avenue south to Cherry Creek and from University Boulevard east to Colorado Boulevard. It holds the 16-block Cherry Creek North business district, the Cherry Creek Shopping Center and the residential blocks of Cherry Creek North and Cherry Creek East. The City’s 2012 area plan counted 65 percent of homes as multifamily, with duplexes, single-family homes and mixed-use buildings making up the rest.
That mix shapes moving day. Denver requires a permit to park a moving truck on the street, and metered blocks need a meter permit. Cherry Creek North’s meters run 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Saturday, with a three-hour limit. In the residential blocks, vehicles reach most buildings from the mid-block alley, but Denver allows alley parking only for loading. High-rises may add their own elevator and move-hour rules. Denver says residential plowing happens between 3 a.m. and 3 p.m., and signed residential streets are swept monthly from April through November.
We bill local moves by the hour under Fair Clock Pricing unless there is a contract price, with no stair, long-carry, disassembly or elevator fees.

Meet Our Founder
“In Cherry Creek, moving day runs on three things: the street, the alley and the building. Denver requires a permit to park a moving truck on the street, and metered blocks need a meter permit. We go over it with you at the estimate.
Some moves are into high-rises with elevator reservations and loading docks. Others are into row houses and single-family homes, where the alley can be the better way in. Either way, we measure the tight spots, protect your floors and halls, and provide a certificate of insurance when your building asks.
Cherry Creek is about 4 miles from our Denver office. I started moving furniture at 18, and Fischer Van Lines has been in business since 2004. Our Cherry Creek movers give you a free, clear estimate.”

Frequently asked questions about moving in Cherry Creek
Is Cherry Creek its own city, or do Denver's rules apply?
Cherry Creek is a neighborhood of Denver, so City and County of Denver rules apply here. The City’s statistical neighborhood runs from 6th Avenue south to Cherry Creek and from University Boulevard east to Colorado Boulevard. The Cherry Creek North business district covers 16 blocks between 1st and 3rd Avenue, and its office is in ZIP code 80206. Local moves are billed by the hour under our Fair Clock Pricing, unless there is a contract price, and every quote spells out each charge.
Do we need a permit to park the moving truck on a Cherry Creek street?
Yes. Denver says parking a moving truck or van in the street needs a permit. If your block has parking meters, use the City’s Parking Meter Request Form. If it has none, use the ROW Street Occupancy Request Form. Denver’s code also limits vehicles over 6,000 pounds empty or 22 feet long to two hours a week on a public street unless they are actively rendering services nearby. Send a walkthrough video of your block with our quote form, and we’ll plan the truck’s spot at the estimate. Estimates are free.
Cherry Creek North has meters and time limits. How do we hold space for the truck?
Denver can cover meters with “No Parking” bags for a permit holder. There is no same-day service: allow at least one business day, though the City’s parking page asks for a week’s notice. Fees depend on the meter location, number of days and number of meters. Cherry Creek North’s meters run 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Saturday, with a three-hour limit, and are free on Sundays. A vehicle-specific residential parking permit is not valid at meters. Call us at (720) 297-9904 with your date; we are open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. every day.
Can the truck load from the alley?
Only briefly. Denver allows parking in an alley only during necessary and expeditious loading and unloading, and the truck can’t block a neighbor’s driveway or traffic moving through. Parking within 5 feet of an alley or driveway entrance is also against city code. The City’s 2012 area plan says that in the residential Cherry Creek North neighborhood, vehicle access is, with few exceptions, from the mid-block alley. We have no long-carry fee, and we go over alley and street options at the free estimate.
What should I ask my high-rise or condo building before the move?
Ask the building manager or association for the move rules in writing: move hours, elevator reservations and any insurance paperwork. The City’s 2012 area plan describes high-rise residential and office buildings up to 16 stories west of Madison Street in Cherry Creek East. We handle high-rises, elevator reservations and loading docks, and we can provide a certificate of insurance for your building or HOA on request. We do weekend apartment moves, and we have no elevator or stair fees.
Will a full-size truck fit on my Cherry Creek block?
It depends on the block. The City’s 2012 area plan calls the streets of residential Cherry Creek North narrow, with detached sidewalks, tree lawns and on-street parking on every street. Denver’s code says a parked vehicle can’t leave less than 10 feet of roadway width for moving traffic. Our six trucks range from 20 to 42 feet. Usually the larger trucks fit; if one won’t, a smaller truck goes instead, at a lower rate. A walkthrough video of your street on our quote form lets us choose the right truck before moving day.
What happens if it snows, or the street is swept, on moving day?
Denver says residential plowing happens between 3 a.m. and 3 p.m., with one pass down the center of every side street, and residences should clear sidewalks by the next day. From April through November, residential streets are swept monthly where signs are posted. Parking is banned on the side being swept, and cars there may be ticketed and relocated. Our trucks carry chains in season. If a storm or sweeping day lands on your date, call us at (720) 297-9904; we are open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. every day.
Can a storage container sit on my Cherry Creek street?
Only with a Denver permit, and only the container company can get it. The container must sit in the parking lane at least 20 feet from any corner, alley or entrance, never on a sidewalk, tree lawn, travel lane or alley, for no more than 180 days in 12 months. Allow 5 business days for the permit. If you need a gap between move-out and move-in, we offer climate-controlled short-term storage, from a few days to a few weeks.
