Denver Apartment Movers: Walk-Ups, High-Rises & Everything Between
An apartment move is not a small house move. It is a move with rules: elevator windows, loading docks, building paperwork, and neighbors on the other side of every wall. For 22 years, Fischer Van Lines has been the apartment movers Denver renters and condo owners call when they want the building side handled as carefully as the furniture, from Capitol Hill walk-ups to high-rises in LoDo, Union Station and Cherry Creek.

What We Handle Before Moving Day
- Certificate of insurance, same day. Most Denver high-rises and managed communities will not let a mover through the door without one. Send us your building’s requirements and we will send the certificate the same day you ask. We are fully licensed and insured: PUC# HHG-00124, USDOT 1408664.
- Elevator reservations. Your building books the freight elevator for residents. Tell us your window and we size the crew and schedule the truck around it, so the whole move fits inside your reservation.
- Loading docks and parking. We ask about dock height, clearance and garage access before the truck rolls. If the street is the only option, we will tell you whether you need meters bagged. The City of Denver handles those requests through its E-Permits system, says they can take up to 72 hours to process, and asks for a week’s notice.
- Move-in and move-out hours. Many buildings only allow moves at set times. We plan the day to finish inside them.
Protecting Your Building, and Your Deposit
Property managers remember the movers who scuffed the hallway. We pad elevators, protect door frames and corners, lay floor runners where your building asks for them, and wrap every piece of furniture before it leaves your unit. Taking beds, tables and desks apart and putting them back together is part of the move, not an add-on.
Walk-Ups, High-Rises and Everything Between
Walk-ups. Many of Denver’s older apartment buildings, especially around Capitol Hill and Cheesman Park, have no elevator at all. We plan for the stairs: the right crew, the right equipment, and a sofa that actually makes the turn.
High-rises. Downtown, Union Station, the Golden Triangle and Cherry Creek mean freight elevators, loading docks, certificates of insurance and long hallways. That is routine work for our apartment movers.
Lofts and new builds. RiNo lofts and newer buildings in the Highlands and around Sloan’s Lake bring small elevators, garage-level loading and long carries. We check the route before moving day, not during it.
First apartments and small moves. A studio or one-bedroom still deserves a real crew. We move students, first-time renters and downsizers all over the Denver metro, including Aurora and Lakewood.
What Affects the Cost of an Apartment Move
We do not publish a flat price, because two one-bedroom apartments can be very different moves. What changes the time, and the price, is:
- Stairs or elevator, and how long the elevator wait runs
- How far the truck can park from your door
- How much is packed when we arrive (we offer full or partial packing services)
- Furniture that has to come apart to fit
The fastest way to an accurate number: call us, fill out the form, or text a video walkthrough of your apartment to (720) 297-9904 and we will price what we can actually see.
Moving at the End of the Month? Book Early.
Most Denver leases turn over at the end of the month, so the last and first few days of every month fill up first, for elevators and for movers. If your dates are flexible, a mid-month weekday is the easiest day to book. If they are not, call as soon as you have your move-out date.
Moving Somewhere Farther?
If your next apartment is outside Colorado, our long-distance movers handle it with a dedicated truck. For a house or townhome, see our local moving services.
Fischer Van Lines is a veteran-owned Denver moving company, in business since 2004.
FAQs
Do you provide a certificate of insurance for my apartment building?
Yes. Send us your building’s certificate of insurance requirements, usually a sample certificate or a list of who must be named, and we will send the certificate the same day you ask. Fischer Van Lines is fully licensed and insured: PUC# HHG-00124, USDOT 1408664.
Do I reserve the elevator, or do you?
Your building reserves the freight elevator for residents, so the booking comes from you. Tell us your reserved window and we will schedule the crew and the truck around it so the move finishes inside your reservation.
Do I need a parking permit for the moving truck in Denver?
It depends on your building. If there is a loading dock or a lot we can use, usually not. If the truck has to use metered street parking, the City of Denver can bag the meters through its E-Permits system. The city says those requests can take up to 72 hours to process and asks for at least a week’s notice. We will tell you during your quote whether your building needs one.
Can you move me out of one apartment and into another on the same day?
Yes. Most local apartment moves happen in a single day. The key is lining up both buildings’ elevator windows and move hours. Give us both, and we will schedule around them.
How much does it cost to hire apartment movers in Denver?
It depends on the size of the apartment, stairs or elevators at both ends, how far the truck is from your door, and how much packing you need. We do not guess. Call (720) 297-9904, fill out our form, or text us a video walkthrough for a free, accurate quote.
