Federal Heights is a small home rule city, incorporated in 1940, on 1.78 square miles about 12 miles northwest of downtown Denver. About 14,400 people live here. The City’s 2021 count shows 2,433 mobile home park spaces, its largest housing type, plus 1,787 apartment units and 1,113 single-family homes. Close to half of homes are rented.

Neighborhoods run from Northborough and the Hunters Cove Apartments area near 100th and 103rd Avenues, through Old Town, Mobile Landed Estates, Homestead Heights and Monticello between 89th and 92nd, to Tuscan Heights, Hyland Park Heights and Northmoor along 85th Avenue. Federal Boulevard, a state highway, runs down the west side, and Pecos Street plus 84th, 92nd, 96th and 104th Avenues are first-priority snow streets. Water World sits in the middle of town, near City Hall. The City’s snow map shows many private streets it does not maintain; on those, check the community’s own rules. On city streets, the code lets a moving truck park while it is being loaded or unloaded.

Federal Heights City Hall is about 11 miles from our office at 2115 W 14th Ave, almost due north. Fischer Van Lines is a veteran-owned, licensed and insured Federal Heights moving company, in business since 2004. We handle local residential, apartment and office moves, billed by the hour under Fair Clock Pricing unless there is a contract price. Several members of our team speak Spanish. Estimates are free, and our quote form takes a walkthrough video.

Meet Our Founder

“Federal Heights is less than two square miles, but it holds a lot of homes: houses, apartments and manufactured-home communities, all about 11 miles up the road from our Denver office.

Each one moves differently. In a manufactured-home community, we move your belongings in and out, never the home itself, and we check the community’s rules before moving day. On residential streets, the city allows a moving truck at the curb only while we’re loading or unloading, so we plan that time and keep it short.

Several of our team members speak Spanish, which matters in a city where so many families do. I started moving furniture at 18, I’m a United States Navy veteran, and our Federal Heights movers will give you a straight, free estimate before you decide anything.”

Frequently asked questions about moving in Federal Heights

Can the moving truck stay on our Federal Heights street overnight?

Usually, if the move is still going on. Federal Heights’ code keeps large trucks off residential streets, but it makes an exception for loading and unloading. It defines that as continuous work, then gives an example: one overnight break is generally normal while a residential moving van is being loaded or unloaded. A truck simply left parked doesn’t qualify, and parking more than five days in a row counts as storage. If your move will take two days, tell us when you book. The truck can stay parked overnight for an overnight fee, and your quote spells it out. Local moves are billed by the hour under Fair Clock Pricing unless there is a contract price. For Denver and 25 nearby cities, see our moving truck and container rules guide.

Yes. We move your belongings in and out; we don’t move the homes themselves. Mobile home park spaces are the City’s largest housing type, 2,433 of them in its 2021 count. The City’s snow map also shows many private streets that it does not maintain. On a private street, the community’s rules apply, so ask the office where a moving truck may park and for how long. Then show us the home, the street and the doors in a walkthrough video on our quote form. Estimates are free, and the quote spells out every charge.

The City sands and plows its first- and second-priority streets after every storm. Third-priority streets get done only after at least 6 inches of snow, or when the police ask. Private streets are not maintained by the City, and Federal Boulevard is a state highway handled by CDOT. When the City declares a snowstorm alert, no one may park on a posted snow route. Sidewalks must be cleared within 24 hours after a snowfall of an inch or more. If a storm is coming on your moving date, call (720) 297-9904; our office is open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. every day.

Yes. Apartments are the city’s second-largest housing type, with 1,787 units in the City’s 2021 count, and about half of Federal Heights homes are rented. The City’s own street notices mention the Hunters Cove Apartments area on 103rd Avenue and Pine Gardens Apartments by Elm Court. We do weekend apartment moves, walk-ups and high-rises, and we handle elevator reservations and loading docks. If your complex asks for a certificate of insurance, we provide one on request. See apartment moving.

On a paved lot with a proper curb cut. In the City’s C-1 commercial district, a truck, van or trailer over one-ton capacity may not park on an unpaved lot, or on a lot without a curb cut built to City specifications; a plain curb, gutter and sidewalk doesn’t count as a curb cut. We offer a free on-site walkthrough for business moves, a good time to pick the truck spot. On moving day, our crews disconnect your computers and reconnect them at the new space. See commercial moving.

Yes. The City reports an average household size of 3.85 people in Federal Heights. That can add up to a lot of closets, dressers and kitchen shelves. Our packing service can take that work off your hands. Packing is billed by the hour under Fair Clock Pricing unless there is a contract price. For a free estimate, show us the rooms in a walkthrough video on our quote form, or call (720) 297-9904.

It’s worth checking. In 2026 the City sweeps November 16 to 18, one area a day: 96th to 104th Avenue on the 16th, 88th to 96th on the 17th, and 84th to 88th on the 18th. Sweepers do the residential streets first, then the main streets where people don’t usually park. The City offers email alerts for sweeping. If your moving date lands on your area’s day, plan where the truck will stand. Our office is open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. every day at (720) 297-9904 to help you plan the date.

Yes. Our long-distance moves start in Denver and the metro area, and Federal Heights sits about 12 miles northwest of downtown Denver. Our own crews drive the truck and unload it at your new home. Each long-distance move gets its own truck, with no shared loads, and you get real-time tracking updates along the way. Long-distance moves always have a contract price.
